OUTREACH MONDAY JANUARY 2O
In keeping with the spirit of service during Catholic Schools Week, grades 3,4, and 5 are making sanwiches for the preschool at St. Mary's Center. REMINDER --- requests were sent home for either 2 loaves of bread or cheese.

Those items are due in class Monday January 20. The volunteers are requested to arrive at 11:00.

God bless!
HAPPY NEW YEAR
And so we begin a new year filled with hope and promise.
Working with the students these past two days, I am impressed how quickly they have resumed their routine of study and classwork. Raising hands, following directions, and their level of focus and paying attention to the matter at hand have been wonderful.
I look forward to continuing with these fine children as we explore the world of learning together.

Conferences
I am looking forward to seeing children and parents at the conferences this week. We will have 15 minutes to talk about student performance and needs. I have sent home today a paper to be filled in by parents and students with your questions and comments about our year so far. Please bring this paper to the conference. Chairs will be provided outside the classroom for waiting, and remember to kindly knock when it is your time for our meeting. A list will be on the door of parents and times. God bless you. Mr. Kasalis
Truly Moving
Today our principal led the school in a memorial service to the tragedy of September 11, 2001.
While we mourned the dead, we looked to forgive those that trespass against us and pray for their hearts to be softened. The strains of the song "God Bless America" were joined by the Prayer of St. Francis.
As a native New Yorker, I was deeply touched.
Orientation
It was so nice to see familiar faces and new friends at the meeting last night. For those of you unable to attend, I have sent home the info handout with your child today.
Welcome to Third Grade
May I take this opportunity to greet all the students and their families, and say that I look forward to a great year or learning, sharing and fun! Hope to see many of you tonight at the parent orientation starting at 6pm.
Mr. Kasalis
